Miramar Eye Specialists Medical Group is the only center in Ventura County which can benefit patients by enrolling them in clinical studies which may enable them to receive new and more effective drugs to treat their:

Miramar is enrolling qualified patients in the following clinical studies:
- Diabetes
- New medicines for diabetic macular edema are studied.
- New laser treatment for diabetic retinopathy is studied.
- New medicine for diabetic macular edema is studied.
- Macular Degeneration
- New treatment for wet Macular degeneration is studied.
- New treatment for wet macular degeneration is studied.
- Retinal Vein Occlusions
- Edema associated with central and branch retinal vein occlusions is studied.
- Glaucoma
- New drugs for difficult Glaucoma are studied.
At Miramar we participate in more phase III Drug studies that many University Centers. We are the only center in Ventura County to offer so much cutting-edge care.

Joel Corwin, M.D. is a principle investigator for major pharmaceutical companies and the National Eye Institute, so Miramar patients receive the newest therapies for glaucoma, macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy, and vascular occlusions.
Dr. Corwin received his M.D. and ScB. degrees from Brown University. He completed an internship at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, a residency in ophthalmology at Tufts-New England Medical Center, and a fellowship in retina-vitreous at Retina Associates, where he led a diabetic retinopathy vitrectomy study. He has participated in numerous research projects in uveitis, ocular immunology, glaucoma and other areas.
Dr. Corwin is board-certified by American Board of Ophthalmology and is a diplomate of the National Board of Medical Examiners. He is a member of the American Association of Ophthalmology, the American Uveitis Society, and the West Coast Retina-Vitreous Study Club. He has received numerous honors and awards throughout his career and was President of the American Diabetic Association from 1987-1988.
Joel M. Corwin, M.D. founded Miramar Eye Specialists Medical Group in July 1983.Today, the group has grown to be one of the five largest Ophthalmology groups in California, with 16 doctors who represent virtually each of the eye surgery and medical eye care specialties.
Lisa Jue earned a Bachelor of Science in Anatomy Physiology with a senior project on Retinoblastoma from California Polytechnic State University at San Luis Obispo in 2002. She has been an ophthalmic technician and study coordinator at Miramar since 1997. From 1992-1997 she was a pharmacy technician at Pacific Drug Store. She speaks basic Spanish and German.
