Karyn Teel, M.D. is a medical and surgical retina specialist, treating such conditions as macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy, retinal tears and detachments, macular hole and macular pucker. She takes pride in not only caring for her patients on an individualized basis but also ensuring each patient understands his or her condition and treatment plan.
Dr. Teel grew up in Atlanta, Georgia, where she spent a lot of time in the water as a competitive swimmer. She attended Princeton University, majored in Ecology and Evolutionary Biology, and rowed in the 1998 National Champion Lightweight Women’s boat. After earning her medical degree at the Medical College of Georgia, she headed West. She completed her ophthalmology residency and surgical retina fellowship at the John A. Moran Eye Center of the University of Utah. In 2011, she began her career as a retina specialist, first in Oregon and then in Colorado. As of 2024, she and her family are excited to relocate to Ventura and become part of this vibrant community!
Outside of patient care, Dr. Teel enjoys swimming, biking, scuba diving, paddle boarding, skiing, exploring local treasures, and playing outside with her husband, son and dogs.
