Dr. Nguyen earned her B.S. in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology at the University of California San Diego in 2001. Later she received her degree in Doctor of Optometry from New England College of Optometry, in Boston, Massachusetts. During school, she was awarded four clinical honors and completed clinical externships at the New England Eye Instate, Lowell VA Medical Center, Whittier Community Health Center and the Joslin Diabetes Center- a Harvard Medical affiliate, specializing in the research, diagnosis, treatment and prevention of diabetes and diabetic retinopathy.

She is fluent in Vietnamese and has a basic knowledge of Spanish and German.
